Labors of Tzimtzum

Wisps of blue smoke swirling against a black background, originating from the lower right corner.

Shunted aspects when we contract—
caved in and hollowed out:
the grave, the well, the cave, the womb—
decaying to create the space for birth.

Soul vessels, with gods’ breath subsumed,
shatter in tessellated shards of light—
fractals of The Thunder, Perfect Mind,
fractionated bolts of lightning strike
like glints of fire behind the eyes,
each jeweled face reflecting mirror-like
the dancing strobe of God’s delight.

And through the other’s muck and strife,
we exhume the holiness of life;
in tikkun olam the seeker finds
the missing pieces of the self besides,
and in the emptiness betwixt I and thou
reside the swirling galgalim divine,
spinning the magic of the here and now
in the secret spirals of the infinite.
