Suffering and hatred
Obliterates the stars
Wraps our hearts in darkness.
There are 21 more black holes
This time in Texas.
Please let there be no more.
We cannot live in constant sorrow.
How long will we speak
Of rights and not of truths
That are self-evident?
There is no freedom in slaughter of innocents.
There is no liberty without life.
We will weep, and mourn, and pray.
But then we must rise
To heal the bereaved, the lost,
The frightened ones.
And make whole all that has been broken.
