Adonai, open my lips
That my mouth may declare your praise.
1 Praised are You, Eternal One
Who hears the prayers of our ancestors.
Remember their merit,
And give us the strength
To live by their example.
Blessed are You, Adonai,
Shield of Abraham, Guardian of Sarah.
2 In strength, You give us life,
Renewing our world each day.
In faith, preserve our souls
And let our love live beyond us.
Blessed are You, Adonai,
Who grants us eternal life.
3 You are holy,
Your name is holy,
And holy ones praise you every day.
Blessed are You, Adonai,
The holy God.
4 You gave us this seventh day
To remember the work of creation.
May we take this day of rest
To wonder at Your world—
The beauty of the sky above
And the bounty of the earth below.
Blessed are You, Adonai
Who makes Shabbat holy.
5 God who hears prayer,
Accept this gift of my heart.
Light a fire in my soul
To do Your will
With clarity and joy.
Blessed are You, Adonai,
Whom alone we serve in awe.
6 For all these things—
Sun and rain,
Day and night,
Warmth and cold,
Land and water,
We bow in thanks, O God.
As all life praises You,
So may our lives
Be one great prayer
Of gratitude and joy.
Blessed are You, Adonai,
Whose name is Goodness, fitting for praise.
7 Grant us peace,
Your most precious gift.
As Your creation lives in oneness,
So may we learn to live together
In the harmony of justice and peace.
Blessed are You, Adonai,
Who makes peace.
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be acceptable before You
God, my Rock and my Redeemer.
