A Candlelighting Blessing for International Women’s Day

candles set in glass votives

This blessing is dedicated to all of the women in our lives, among us and those who have passed z”l

These are the women of light –
who came before us,
lighting candles –
candles of the heart,
candles of the soul,
candles deep within.
These are the women of light –
who came before us –
our foremothers of ancient Israel,
our grandmothers and our mothers,
our aunts and our sisters.
These are the women of light
who taught us to kindle
our own special light,
the light of our souls
the light deep within.
These are the women of light among us
who keep the traditions
who create new ways
and teach us to sing
the songs of our souls.

These are the women of light among us
who open our minds
who open our hearts
who bring us into the soul light.
