Malachim Angel Cards: The Community Deck

The MALACHIM Messages of Blessing are a unique set of spiritual practice cards inspired by the Jewish tradition of malachim—Hebrew for messengers or angels. While many today may not take a literal view of angels, Jewish texts and folklore are filled with stories of divine messengers who bring insight, guidance, and connection. The MALACHIM cards invite reflection on timeless questions: What gives us spiritual strength? How do we understand the events in our lives? Are we ever inspired or guided by something beyond ourselves? Whether viewed as symbolic or sacred, MALACHIM cards open space for intention, awareness, and connection.

This special Ritualwell Community Edition grew from a folk tradition that began in a circle of friends in Jerusalem in 1989, when Deborah Eisenbach-Budner first created hand-made Jewish Angel Cards to accompany emerging feminist ritual innovations. Her later printed sets found thousands of homes all over the world for 2 decades.

For this collective edition, 54 pieces of art were selected from artists in the Ritualwell community and matched with Hebrew words to spark personal meaning making. Each set is a collaboration of spirit, creativity, diversity, and community.

To use the cards, simply lay them face down, pause for a moment of kavanah (personal intention), and select one or two. Use them alone or with others—on Shabbat, Rosh Hodesh, birthdays, holidays, or any time you seek a message of blessing. Like any folk tradition, these cards are meant to evolve with you—so make them your own!
