JWC Anthology

Celebrate Our First Year of the Jewish Writers’ Circles!

To mark the inaugural year of the Jewish Writers’ Circles, we invite all JWC members to contribute one piece of creative work for our first anthology. This collection will reflect our themes of Simcha (happiness)Elu v’Elu (these and those), and Lech Lecha (go forth/take yourself and go), providing a wonderful opportunity to publish and share your creations with a broader community.

Your submissions may encompass a variety of forms, including poetry, fiction, memoir, prayer/liturgy, songwriting or midrash.

This anthology will showcase the individuality of each writer while highlighting the strength of our shared learning about both Jewish wisdom and the craft of writing. The deadline for submitting your work is June 15, 2026 and the anthology will be published in early September.

Guidelines for submission:

  • All written pieces should be in English.
  • If you use foreign languages in your piece (this includes Hebrew AND Yiddish), please use the Italics function to differentiate it from English. Please provide English translation of the words/sentences in your piece. We will make sure to include them as footnotes for your piece.
  • Please let us know if your piece is part of a larger work, such as a piece that is part of a larger memoir or fiction story.
  • All work (poetry and prose) should be submitted in Times New Roman, 12 pt. Font. Prose pieces should be double-spaced.
  • Please submit one poem or song or one piece of prose up to 500 words
  • While your work may or may not connect to Jewish culture directly, we ask that you share work inspired by one of the JWC units: Simcha, Elu V’Elul and/or Lech Lecha. Please reach out with any questions about your submission.
  • Please send a completed draft. Our Ritualwell editor may be in touch with editorial suggestions; you are always welcome to withdraw a piece if you prefer.
  • If you have original art or photography to accompany your work, please send to the editor.
