Mara

Mara is a recently retired Professor of Inclusive Education at Syracuse University. Her work focuses on social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion and she refuses to apologize for those words! She is active in her synagogue Tikkun v’Or in Ithaca, New York and co-leads a weekly morning minyan. Mara leads Shabbat observances at all of the professional conferences she attends. She prides herself on structuring inclusive rituals that promote unity and healing. She is always thrilled when people say that this is the first Shabbat they’ve ever celebrated Mara is active as a social justice advocate and leads singing and chanting at many rallies and events. She is also engaged in supporting immigrants who are under attack. Mara  sings in two choirs and dances weekly An avid quilter, she enjoys, making quilts for babies, friends, and those in need of healing.
