Winter Solstice Prayer

sunlight shining on rocks
If the nights are long and days are short, then so am I.
If the sun’s response seems lacking,
then I’ll take it as prescribed, as needed.
If my inner light shines bright of recent,
by way of Grace and Honor with whom I walk beside,
then the light I have is sufficient,
enough to journey inward,
to catch a glimpse of all that glitters,
being not gold, but God,
to eye the sparkling metals
that are not jewels, but awe and wonder.
Oh, how I long for light everlasting,
be it dimmed, absent, or having gone inside.
into the dark, to see and to know all that is there.
