Story Magic Workshop: The Joy of Revision
May 17, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT
An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until May 24, 2023
In our previous fiction writing immersions, participants have generated a body of work, much of it in draft form. But how does one become a stronger, more attuned fiction writer who is revising with an eye toward publication? In this critique-based workshop, we’ll generously respond to each other’s short fiction and offer suggestions for revision. Our supportive approach is based on sensing the energetic possibilities in language and story and using this awareness to deepen and clarify the intention of our narrative. While this workshop is a continuation of our previous immersions, new participants are encouraged to join.
Amy Gottlieb‘s debut novel The Beautiful Possible was a finalist for the 2017 Harold U. Ribalow Prize, a 2016 National Jewish Book Award and Edward Lewis Wallant Award. Her fiction and poetry have been published in Other Voices, Lilith, Puerto del Sol, Ilanot Review, On Being, Zeek, Storyscape, The Bloomsbury Anthology of Contemporary Jewish American Poetry, and elsewhere. She has received a Literary Fellowship and Residency from the Bronx Council on the Arts, and an Arts Fellowship from the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education. Amy is a graduate of Clark University and the University of Chicago. She lives with her family on the edge of the Hudson River in New York City.
All sessions will be recorded and sent to participants. We encourage live attendance for you to get the most out of the experience.
